Chevalier de Saint-Georges is Well Served by Tafelmusik
Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges gained a global profile for the first time when Tafelmusik’s 2003 CBC broadcast « Le Mozart Noir » was distributed to broadcasters throughout the world.
In 2000 I launched a website on Saint-Georges, now known as http://www.AfriClassical.com, so I was invited to contribute my research on the composer to the producer of the documentary.
My collection of Saint-Georges CDs has swelled to dozens of titles, but « Le Mozart Noir » continues to hold a very special appeal for me. Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges continues to be well served by Maestro Jeanne Lamon and Tafelmusik Orchestra. Fine orchestras everywhere should program and record some of the many fine symphonies, string quartets and violin concertos of Saint-Georges.
Their appeal lives on.
